Stevie does a touching tribute to Michael Jackson the night after his death at his concert in Kansas City.
He is one of the last great soul and funk musicians of that era. I will be listening and enjoying his music in the coming days, weeks and months because I sure as hell enjoyed listening to and rediscovering much of the MJ discography these past few days...
With all of these great talents dropping like flies the past few years, I am truly thankful that I was able to see Stevie Wonder live at White River Amphitheater last July. One of the highlights of my music loving life.
Might as well give thanks and soak it up while they're still here people.

Jay-Z - D.O.A. (Video)
Some people see this as a 'turning point' in contemporary hip hop music. Some see this as a return to the good ol days. Some people see this as a declaration of war against 'ringtone rap.'
It may be all or none of those things...I see it as a good track, with a GREAT beat. No ID is one of the best at taking simple samples, adding some grimey drums that require a visit to the chiropractor upon first listen, and creating a Frankenstein slapper of epic proportions. Enjoy.

Huge Hefner
For anyone who was listening to hip-hop in the early to mid 90's this one is a no brainer. Tonight my boy Marc Sense is bringin Bronx legend Diamond D. This guy is one of the greatest MC/Producer combos in the history of hip-hop. He set the stage for greats like J Dilla, Pete Rock, Black Milk, Dr Dre, etc... He is responsible for creating what is considered by underground heads one of the greatest rap alliances of all time in Diggin In The Crates. And dude's been doin his thing for 20+ years now, thats almost unheard of in the rap game. He's worked with The Fugees, Pharcyde, Brand Nubian, KRS-1, Illmind, Tribe, and Seattle's own Jake Uno. I mean shit I could go on for days about what this man has meant to me (no homo...well?) and hip-hop as a whole, but the best thing to do is peep the music Imma post for you, and than get your Ass to Nectar in Fremont tonight to watch a legend do what legends do.

Vacuum Sealed for Freshness
All I gotta say is WOW. Not only is this a super dope colorway, but Nike took the lobster theme and ran with it. This sneaker comes fully vacuum sealed in a foam box along with a matching t-shirt and lace locks. This might be one of the more impressive themed released Nike has ever done.
This Concepts x Nike SB Blue Lobster Dunk will be released on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Concepts, and other retailers should be receiving their shipments soon after.

Turn Up The Bass And Let The Alpine Blast
My Dude Richard at Upper Playground hipped me to this album quite a while ago, and although I instantly loved it, it took this gorgeous weather for me to truly appreciate the album the way it deserves to be appreciated. Dom Kennedy is an L.A. based rapper, who has been quietly doing his thing in the scene for years now. This guy needs to be heard. His music is great, his swagger is unfuckwitable, and if you cant cruise a sunny day with this blasting out your speakers I'll see you on the bus. Download this shit and play it till the rain starts back up (or longer if thats tomorrow :( )

Nike Auto Flight
I posted about these a month or ao ago but here are some new pics.
In the same vein as the Auto Force 180, the Nike Auto Flight combines the Air Flight Lites with the Blazer soles to make one hell of a crispy looking casual high-top. Should be hitting the stores this holiday season.

New CLIPSE track is pretty much amazing
MAN! Pharrell is a fool for this beat. Good lawd. Perfect summertime jam and the flows are just disgusting, as per usual.
It is no secret that I am a huuuuuuge Clipse stan. I mean, their 21+ show @ the chop a few years back is one of my top 5 shows ever. I am obviously stoked for this album and thus far with the mixtape (Road to Til the Casket Drops), the first single (Kinga Like a Big Deal ft. Kanye), and the summertime banger out for the world to hear...I am officially geeked beyond words.

Nike Auto Force 180 - NYC Edition
Damn these are super clean. A mix of Barkley's Air Force 180 and the Nike Blazer in a NYC colorway. Not sure if I could pull off the blue and orange, but the overall look of this sneaker is really classic. It doesn't even look like a blend of two previous releases.
Nike has got their hybrid game down. They know what works, and don't just throw any old combo together to make money. Style comes first, as it should. I would think by now Jordan brand would have figured this out, but NOPE.
